Just a simple time (type-) saving idea...

When entering an email address into a contact record have an option (in User -> Preferences) to automatically update the website address.

So if you enter john.smith@verylongcompanyname.com the website field is automatically updated to www.verylongcompanyname.com

Just a thought.
