I am having problems updating Act 10 to a newer version using Vista. I have gone through the process more than several times and keep getting different errors that shut the process down or require me to abandon the setup.
It has occurred during the Unpacking process, stating there is not enough space on C: drive. Not true, lots of gigs left. When I click OK, it shuts down.
When I have made it past that point:
It has also occurred during the InstallShield Wizard process, ACT! Setup. "Choose Destination Folder" The destination folders are defaulted and I'm unable to change them. I am not able to use the [Browse...] option as I can not click on it, After clicking Next>, I get "ACT! Cannot be installed on a compressed folder. Please choose a different folder that is not compressed". My only choice it to exit the set up.
I had no problem accomplishing this on my Netbook running XP, Yet to sync them they must be running the same version.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or solutions.

There are two or three knowledge-base articles that might help you address these issues, but just a quick-fire check first to establish that this is not a UAC issue - I assume that you are logged on to the Vista PC as a local Admin, BUT have you tried beginning the installation by opening Windows Explorer and browsing to the 'setup' file on the CD (in the ACTWG folder) and right-clicking on the file and selecting 'Run as Administrator' (Vista is a peculiar beast)?

Thanks Will,
Yes I am logged in as Adim. I'm not Installing off the CD, rather "Updating" via the internet from the program [HELP] / [ACT! Update...]. Everything is automatic with the acceptance of prompts and next's.

I believe Russ is using ACT! 2008 (10.0), not ACT! 2010. So he shouldn't attempt to install ACT! 2010 hot fix 4.
The error you're receiving is stating the hard drive is compressed. Follow the knowledgebase article below to uncompress the folders ACT! requires.

Correct, It is ACT 2008 Version 10. In days gone by the ACT I used was called First ACT!
I will try the uncompressing information provided. I do have a disk space issue so I gather the batch file information will address this. Wish me luck and I'll advise.
Thanks,
Russ
