Hiding Contacts in the Contact List

Is there a way to store or hide older (inactive) contacts without totally deleting them.

Example: Contact info is all entered and job is finished.  I want to hide this contact instead of deleting just in case they come back later for me to do another job.  Won't have to re-enter all new data.

you can set a new field (some people use the id/status field) to be "active" or "inactive" and then do a sort on that when you display them.
