Problems with Restore

I have a backup of my database and when I try to restore it to my ACT! file I get the following message:

 

System.NullReferenceException:

Object reference not set to an instance object.

at c1.c12ip.c12ipfile.Open (String filenam)

at Act.UI.DatabaseMaintenanceDialogs.

Restoredialog. Validate Password ()

Are you able to restore any backup?  You can test by creating a backup from the demo database.  This will help determine if its an issue with ACT! or the backup file.
