how come my ACT! is not lauching my database automatically i need to open it everytime and i always get the welcome screen and need to install my email each and everytime i lunch it.
Any help will be greatly appreaciated

What version of ACT!?
This usually means a problem with the preferences becomming corrupt, but the possible solutions depend on the version

Thank you for your response. The version is ACT! 2009 premium. I believe you are right because I tried to go on tools and preference in order to have my database start up with the dashboard, however it seems any changes I make on the preference tabs does not apply it asks me for a path. I have no idea what that path is. It has been quite frustrating trying to find th epath i even tried to create a new path and it doesnt work.

I tried both ways to fixing my prefrence files but it did not work.
the first i followed the instruction twice and when i restart my company and launch ACT! it does not show the pop up message im suppose to get
when i try the seconde method i do not havev the preference.bak files i just have preferences.xml and when i tried chaning those to preferencesbak.old it had to effect.
I am running windows vista i dont know if that might be the cause.
