"Today and all past" would make common sense. Also, it would remove the need to make a new custom filter everyday.

 

This is how everyone I know uses a TASK List.  Today and all past items.

Why do ACT! developers think that I want mouse-over information on monthly calendars to disappear in a few seconds? I don't have time to read it. Please leave it displayed until I move the mouse.

I would like the ability to total up columns of numbers in any ACT table.

 

So, if I have a Contact fields formatted as a number and I include them in a Contact list, I would like ACT to automatically put the sum of those columns at the bottom (or top) of each numeric column.

 

I would like this ability in ALL list views, including Task List.

We need each sales rep, whose Companys and Contacts are set at Limited Access, to be able to enter a Company name to see if someone else is already working them.  If there is a match, we would like the company name and the sales rep working it to come back in a note to the person making the request.  We understand that it is possible for a company to have multiple contacts, and therefore multiple sales reps.  We would like our reps to have the system tell them if someone is already working a particular company.  We may choose to change the rep, but we want to avoid duplicate efforts trying to contact the same company.  Currently, they have to all come to me and ask if a company is being covered - since I am the administer and have rights to all data in the system.  This is an important request for us.  Please let me know your thoughts.  thanks,

When going to "task list" and go to "create lookup" it will reorder the lookup automatically by last name????  For example say I want all of my past task lists, my old ACT used to create the lookup based on the date of the task.....hence the name of the function "task list".  If I wanted to look up my contacts by last name I would have done that but I'd like to start calling those based on the oldest to newest or newest to oldest.  PLEASE PUT IT BACK the way it was.

This would be of great help. When you push this button if the contact's email existed in a contacts profile then the contact would pop up in ACT.

I would like to be able to search for group membership using the advanced querying capabilities. Some of my queries depend on group memership and there is currently no way to do this. If the advanced query allowed me to search contacts  with a "member of" query type where the value could be set to a group or subgroup name this would be very helpful and improve the flexibility of the query capabilities. I have had to convert several of my groups into fields that I can then use for dynamic membership but this takes a lot of effort and requires adminstrative access to the data bases and makes me involve IT. I would like to be able to write a query to select contacts from multiple groups without having to involve my IT department.

I have recently migrated from a very old version of ACT! to the latest 2010 premium version. Over the years I spent a lot of effort automating my ACT usage by building a whole series of macros for common functions and assigning toolbar buttons to them. Imagine my surprise when I find out I couldn't build a macro anymore with ACT 2010!

 

Please bring back the ability to record macros and allow them to be assigned to custom toolbar buttons and menu items.

Just had a client on the phone who has lost 500 records by removing a User. This probably occured because:

 

(a) they didn't realise that removing a User had the potential to remove records as well (why would you).

(b) they presumably didn't read or understand the significance of the "You are about to delete User..." warning window

 

and

 

(c) the default option is set to "Delete records belonging to this user" rather than " Reassign records to another user", which is a bit of a Gottcha!

 

I'm sure most people don't want to delete a whole bunch of records when they remove a User.

Like many others, I have a standard e-mail signature sign off created in Outlook.

 

This holds a summary of my contact info, legal disclaimer etc. etc. 

 

For those that have Outlook integration enabled, and have email set-up to "Record Email subject and message (recommended)" it would be useful to have a further option to "do not record email signature to history" 

 

This way, when I scroll through email messages to a contact, I don't see my long email signature text at the end of each message. 

Doing a right-click in a field is a quick way to do a lookup based on that field. It would be neat if the lookup was, by default, populated with the value in the field you just clicked in.

 

Quite often I find I'm looking for contacts which are the same. For example, if I'm on a Contact record for someone who works at Sage, I will often be looking for other contacts who also work for Sage, so if I right-click in the Company field which is populated with the name "Sage" the default lookup would be Lookup Company Contains Sage.

 

All helps to speed things up!

This one comes up quite frequently.

 

People want to copy their meetings into their Outlook calendars (may be one or two a day) but not all the other activities such a Calls where they may have 15 or 20 a day, as it clutters up the Outlook calendar.

 

Could we not set up some default filters on the types of activity which get copied?

A no brainier... Add Subject line for all mass email merging.  I know there are third party software, but this should be a standard function in Act!

The menu structure and toolbar can be customised in ACT. Using Tools -> Customise -> Menus and Toolbars...

 

ACT 2010 introduced the "Big Buttons" that sit between the menu bar and the toolbar. Can we have the option to customise these as well? 

 

I would like to be able to:

 

a) remove them

b) make them smaller

c) add commands and custom commands to them

 

Depending upon my client's needs. 

 

 

 

I'd like the Keyword Search function added to the Notes, History and Activity Tabs. The search would default to the current contact and the tab that was currently selected.

 

So, if I have 100's of emails in the history tab for a specific contact, I could quickly type in "Invoice" into the Keyword Search function within the histroy tab to generate a list of all history items that contain the word "invoice" 

 

So the top of the tab (for History) would be: Dates:_____________   Types:_____________  Search:_____________

 

Likewise for the other tabs. 

ACT! is built for multiple users.  Why is it that those users cannot easily share activities?

 

We are constantly bombarded by customers who want to schedule activities FOR multiple users.  The only way to do this is to Schedule WITH the users since you can only schedule FOR one user at a time. The problem with this is the confusiion of who the actual activity is scheduled WITH.

 

For example, I have a sales manager, sales person and admin person meeting with John Doe the customer at the same meeting.

 

You can either schedule FOR one user and WITH the others AND the customer OR you can create 3 separate activities scheduled FOR each user and WITH the same customer.

 

In many of my larger workgroups, our ACT users have resorted back to Outlook simply because ACT! cannot handle this kind of scheduling.  This is embarassing for ACT!

 

PLEASE add this feature. You could even consider it a Premium feature.

#1  If you put a birthdate in the contact field, it should show up on the calendar

 

#2  Jim's birthday in 11/10/2009; after that date, it should automatically update to 11/10/2010

And really, I prefer putting his birthday in as 11/10/1951 so I know how old he is as well.  Helps me note major birthdays (40, 50-years)

 

#3  Where is anniversary?

When you lookup a contact and a list appears with different names that match, the top name is highlighted. If you hit Enter to open to that contact, IT WILL NOT OPEN. The only way it will open is to Arrow down (and you have to push the arrow key twice to get it to move the first time) and then Arrow back up and then you can hit Enter and it will go to that contact!  The only other way is to Double Click on it and it will open.  Before 2009 you could just hit enter, you chaned it in 2009 and I had hoped it would be resolved in 2010! No luck, please fix!
