I recently installed ACT 2009 as an upgrade to 2000. I am running it on XP. I also have Norton Firewall protection. For some reason the SQL ACT7 Service, which is supposed to start automatically, won't start unless I do it manually, which means the program cannot open the data files until I take this extra step. ACT help didn't have an answer. Has anyone run into this and found a solution?
Recently, I have worked with a couple of people installing/upgrading their Act databases. I have made sure that they read and follow the ideas set out in the "This would have helped me." post in the Best Practices board. The author has special points about SQL which may solve your problem. Good luck.
