Remote Database - Could not authenticate user - error

We are trying to set-up a first time REMOTE DATABASE.  We have followed the instructions without problem until we try to login to new remote database.

I have tried multiple times with same error.  We are using the Admin user name and have removed password before setting up remote but still same error.

We are using ACT Pro V18.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Remote Database - Could not authenticate user - error

If you are on version 18.0 you likely need to apply the hotfix available in the following article to your database and then re-create the remote database: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38244

Re: Remote Database - Could not authenticate user - error

Has anyone seen a similar issue in 19.0, except the User can log in once the User Role is adjusted to Admin?  This DB Fixer appears to be v18 specific: Does anyone know it is safe to try in v19?

Hi bralston,

Does this issue persist on a newly created remote database, or for any other users?
What edition of Act! is being used?

It does continue to happen on a new RDB, and is happening for 5 users total.  Act! Web is on the server.

Re: Remote Database - Could not authenticate user - error

Hi bralston,

Could you please give us some additional details about this particular case that could help us in testing?
You say the user can log on when their role is changed to Admin. What were their roles initially?
What are the details of the sync sets that you are using for the remotes?
Could you confirm the exact error that is presented when attempting to log in before role is changed to Admin?
