ACT has encountered an error. Please shutdown the application.

I get this error message when I click on the companies tab.  After this message I usually get the message "Cannot assign type ACT.Framework.Contacts.Contact from ACT.Framework.Companies.Company Parameter name: item"  I have tried everything that I can and that I have read here.  I have worked with and ACT tech person and she said that it sounds like it is an issue with the linking of fields.  So I have gone and unlinked all fields except company because it wont let me.

 

HELP!!!

If you are using ACT! 2010, please see if the information in KB Article 25493 helps to resolve the issue.
