Don't know what to do with my ACT 2000 database!

Don't know what to do with my ACT 2000 database!

I am currently using Act 2000 on my Vista operating system.  Yes, I'm a little behind the times.  I know my computer is on its last legs, and am looking at getting a new computer.  I understand that Act 2000 will not operate on Windows 8.  I have over 4500 contacts in my database, and do not want to lose them.  I'm afraid, at this point, if I upgrade to the newest version of Act, that I will be totally confused with all the changes, and my learning curve will be astronomical!  I'm also afraid that my data will not transfer successfully to a new program.  Also, is the newest version of Act a pay per month application?  I'm 61 years old, and just use this database to keep track of contacts and insert notes as to when I've had contact with them.  So I can't justify a per month fee.  HELP!

Your best bet would be to get an Act! consultant to help you with the migration of your data and to purchase a copy of Act! v17 Pro.

Re: Don't know what to do with my ACT 2000 database!

There is good news.  ACT! 2000 works great on Windows 8.  It's blazing fast too.

If you want to run ACT! 2000 (5.0) on W8x64 do the following:

1. Go to the ACT folder on the CD

2. Click on setup.exe and let it run

3. Enter your serial number and you are good to go

The problem is the MENU (which is opened from setup in the root) won't run. I am running ACT! 2000 (5.0) on Windows 8 64bit.

============

If you want to use the ACT! Word Processor send the ACT! 2000 icon to the desktop (create shortcut) then do the following:

1. Right click the ACT! 2000 icon

2. Click Properties-Compatibility-Run this program as an Administrator

3. Click OK

There is more good news.  You can run ACT! 2000 (5.0) on a new Windows 10 computer also.  It's very easy.

2. Click on setup.exe and let it run

3. Enter your serial number and you are good to go

The problem is the MENU (which is opened from setup in the root) won't run.

or do this which also works:

2. Click Properties-Compatibility-Run this program in Compatibility mode for:

3. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or 3) (both of them work)

4. Click OK
