Hello- I burned a properly backed-up version of my datebase onto a CD-R and am trying to to a test restore. The restore will not complete though and I get an "unknown error" window. I can restore a back-up that I have saved to my hard drive, but not from the CD.
Can anyone advise on this-- any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Copy the backup file to the hard drive and restore from there.

I use Act 2000 and have had no problems for last decade. Program was on machine that was not on line. Due to company policy I had to shift program to one of their machines and everything has been working since Jan 2012. Today program will not work with message that data base was created using a later version of Act. Data base can't be opened using this Act version. Only have used Act 2000 and database is on Act 2000. DK what is wrong and company is no help Did this happen because machine is on line it has been asking me to register a product bought 10+ years ago and wanted to backup data which the firm does already? I could not register on line or print out a a form to register. According to Sage help line I could not register on phone either and it did not seem to be a need as they no longer support. I need access to data base and help Basic question is did being on line cause this problem and how can it be fixed?
Thanks
Dave

There are several possibilities for you problem including a damaged database. One question would be what version of Windows are you using.
